Whether your just down the road on Lake McCloud, or out for a full day on Shasta Lake, guests at the Eagle’s Rest are set for fun on the water! Our "Surf & Turf” package allows guests to enjoy the use of our 26 foot luxury pontoon, two jet skis and plenty of toys.

Hiking & Exploration

From your private 2.25 mile loop located on property and offering a spectacular view of the mountain, to hikes in the surreal Castle Crags or on Mt. Shasta herself, there are literally hundreds of options for young and old alike. The renown Pacific Crest Trail passes just 3 miles south of the Eagle’s Rest!

 

Golfing

Just 5 minutes from Eagle’s Rest, guests can tee it up on the oldest courses in California. Founded in 1923, the 9 hole par 36 course offers some of the best views anywhere. Even more challenging is the 18-hole par 70 public course at the Mt. Shasta Resort.

 

Kayaking & Float Trips

With summer temperatures in the 90s, there is nothing like a day spent floating or kayaking on Lake McCloud. Cool, turquoise water is surrounded by towering cliffs covered in pine. Perhaps the perfect lake for those who simply want to paddle and explore.

 

Horseback Riding

From the red horse barns in McCloud to the large ranches north of Mt. Shasta, Siskiyou County is an equestrian paradise. There are literally thousands of miles of trails and forest roads that crisscross the area and ample water for extended rides. Saddle up and enjoy the view!

 

Mountaineering

Off Roading

Thousands of miles of trails and forest roads crisscross Siskiyou County creating the perfect destination for off-road enthusiasts. Plans are currently underway for a “State of Jefferson Trade Route” a 250 mile ATV trail between nearby Yreka and the Pacific Ocean.

Downhill Skiing

The Mt. Shasta Ski Park is just 8 miles from the Eagle’s Rest and offers 32 trails on 425 acres of ski-able terrain. Several terrain parks and back-country options are also available, along with tubing, lessons, rentals and night skiing packages.

 

Sledding

In addition to the tubing area at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park, the town of McCloud also enjoys proximity to a special hill that has been set aside just for sledding. Originally the site of the area’s first ski facility, Snowman’s Hill boasts the best sled run in Siskiyou County.

 

Snowmobiling

Enjoy the Tri-Forest Snowmobile Trail system during you stay at the Eagle’s Rest and take advantage of over 260 miles of groomed terrain. Together, this system of linked trails represent one of the largest snowmobiling areas in the country. Bring your machine or rent locally.

 

Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

In addition to the many area trails, the McCloud area also offers a dedicated Nordic Center designed specifically for cross country and snowshoeing enthusiasts. Visitors are welcomed by 25 km of groomed trails and a fantastic warming hut at the trailheads.

The Cabin: Our log home offers over 3,500 square feet of luxury, featuring 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a fully appointed kitchen, and all the charm in the world. We can accommodate 10 guests – all in beds.

The Trails: Choose from a relaxing 3‐mile “out‐and‐back” hike to the top of our property, a 2.25 mile “loop” that offers a bit more of an aerobic challenge, or 1.7 mile circuit that can really get those legs burning! All three options reward hikers and bikers with an AMAZING view of Mt. Shasta!

The Boat: Enjoy access to the well‐appointed luxury pontoon THREE BUOYS AND A GULL. Named after our four children, this 26‐foot gem accommodates 14 guests comfortably and offers both lounge and “bar” seating. Ideal for day fishing, swimming, skiing or tubing, the 3B&G comes well‐appointed with everything needed for a great day on the water.

The Toys: 2 Yamaha jetskis, a basketball court, ping‐pong table and electronic dart board provide plenty of entertainment “at home” and are supplemented by 2 flat-panel TVs, our well‐appointed loft library, a wrap‐around deck and over-sized hammock.
